Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates (also called saccharides) are molecular compounds made from just three elements: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Monosaccharides (e.g. glucose) and disaccharides (e.g. sucrose) are relatively small molecules. They are often called sugars, found naturally in foods such as fruits, vegetables, milk, and milk products. Other carbohydrate molecules are very large (polysaccharides such as starch and cellulose). Many of the complex carbohydrates are good sources of fiber.

Cyclodextrin is mainly used to increase the stability of drugs and prevent drug oxidation and decomposition to improve dissolution and bioavailability of the drug. It can be used to reduce side effects of drugs and mask drug odors as a new type pharmaceutical excipient.

In food manufacturing, cyclodextrin is mainly used to eliminate odors and flavor, improve the fragrance and color stability, enhance the emulsifying ability and moisture resistance, and to Improve the taste of food. It’s a good stabilizers, emulsifiers and flavoring agents in pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics industry.
